Snow and ice - nothing !
Running at 80 in a sand storm - that's something.

Out of the motel by 8 to catch the 9am ferry from Bullfrog to Halls Crossing. At the ferry port (a dirt track that stopped at the water's edge) we gathered another crowd round the bikes.
We meet so many people because of these bikes and fail to answer most of their questions about them.

Having passed 4 gas stations in the last 12 miles, this route has no lack of fuel.

Past natural bridges national park then south towards Mexican Hat.

On the way the road meets a 1000ft cliff which it descends in a series of switchbacks. The road down the cliff is dirt and gravel, which is fun on a motorbike.

After a quick detour to the goosenecks of the San Juan we hit Mexican Hat for lunch (or breakfast or something, given that this is the first meal since lunch yesterday).

Down to monument valley. A stunning piece of desert that you should visit.
We took the back country tour which takes you places that the public can't get to. Back at the visitors center a sand storm is picking up.
Running through a sand storm on a bike with no windshield wearing a piss pot helmet and my glasses is interesting.
My neck tube is pulled to my nose, the scarf worn on my head pulled down to my eyebrows and it still hurts. 60 mph head wind and riding at 50 (till there is too much sand in the air then down to 40).

After Kayenta we run with the wind at our backs. No wind in our faces till we're over 55 so running at 80 doesn't feel strange.

Turning south towards Chinle we get the wind in our faces again.
At one point there is about 30ft visibility and sand dunes on the road.

By the time we reach a motel at Chinle I ache. My neck - from the wind. My hands and shoulders from holding the bike in a straight line. My eyes from the sand. But we managed to miss the rain.

808 miles total - 232 miles today.
